Archavon the Stone Watcher - Vault of Archavon
Archavon is the winters grasp PvP Raid boss… i got invited to a group last minute and decided to give it a go. He’s only available for 4 hours after a faction wins wintersgrasp. I was the off tank. Soon i’ll post a video of our guild doing this raid, it’s crazy easy and whenever you have a chance to do it you should.
Strategey:
The raid requires 2 tanks and a ton of DPS. The first tank (I wont say “main” tank because both tanks play an equal part) tanks the boss wherever he feels comfortable. Every once in a while Archavon will charge a party member and fart (well, it looks like a fart) and a cloud will appear there, stay out of the cloud… he will then immediately come back to the tank (the tank shouldn’t run after him when he charges). The tank should then make sure that he’s not too close to the cloud so that melee dps can do their job without worry about it.
He also summons rock shards from the sky that land on a random player, this player will need some healing love, but it’s not too bad in 10 man mode.
Every now and again he’ll “consume” the current tank and drop all threat. At this point all dps should stop until the second tank can get threat. This is the most important part of this fight.
The most common reason for a group to not be able to down this guy is that the group DPS is too low. He has a fairly short enrage timer where he’ll basically wipe an entire group in 10-15 seconds… you’ve gotta DPS him down before he does that.
