Krik’thir the Gatewatcher - Azjol-Nerub « Beef Tank

Krik’thir the Gatewatcher - Azjol-Nerub

Who:

Krik’thir the Gatewatcher in Azjol-Nerub

Krik’thir is the first boss encounter in Azjol-Nerub. He is significantly harder in Heroic mode than in Non Heroic mode. He has a guantlet that consists of 3 packs of 3 mobs that need to be taken out before he is engaged. The packs of 3 come at the group one after eachother until there are none left and then the boss comes. Pulling one of these three groups starts the gauntlet. In heroic mode if you manage to kill the boss without killing any of his watchers you can get the Watch Him Die achievement.

Non Heroic

Strategy:

To start the fight with Krik’thir the tank should pull one of the groups of 3 mobs in front of him. The kill order for these groups should be the Skirmishers first and the Watchers last. After dispatching one of these groups Krik’thir will summon another (seeminlgy random) of the groups and they should be treated the same. When there are none left Krik’thir will come himself and the boss fight begins.

Krik’thir himself is a relatively simple fight. Any tank with spell reflection should try to reflect his Mind Flay (this can be tricky because it’s instant cast). Also if anyone in the group is capable of decursing they should remove Curse of Fatigue from anyone. He will randonly summon adds that are easily dispatched with AoE, so everyone should stand really close to the tank (if not on top of them) so that the tank may perform any AoE aggro/damage abilities that they have. His Frenzy ability goes largely unnoticed as he casts it very close to death.

Heroic

Strategy:

This encounter is the same in heroic mode as it is in non heroic mode except that it becomes increasingly important to take out the Skirmishers first (as they randomly drop aggro and be come un-tauntable) and the Watchers last (because killing a watcher summons the next group of 3).
