Gal’darah - Gundrak « Beef Tank

Gal’darah - Gundrak

Who:

Gal’darah in Gundrak

Gal’darah is the finaly boss of Gundrak and one of the harder fights in the instance.

Non Heroic

Abilities:

Stampede - 7k damage and a 10 yard knock back
Impale - 1500 damage per second for 5 seconds and immobilization
Whirling Slash - hits nearby targets for 1500 damage and leaves a debuff that ticks for 3500 per 3 seconds
Enrage - Increases attack speed for 10 seconds
Puncture - Ticks for 1k every 3 seconds for 9 seconds and stacks

Strategy:

The tank should back up to the throne behind him and tank him there. Throughout the fight Gal’darah will cast Stampede, this summons a rhino to randomly lunge at a party member causing them to be knocked back and do some damage. The healer will need to pay special attention to any party members that are hit with this and get them up as soon as possible. Gal’darah switches between two forms: Human and Rhino. When in Rhino form everyone in the party needs to get as close as possible to the boss to avoid getting charged at by him - the further away you are the more damage you take from this. When he’s in human form everyone except the tank and melee should stay away from him to avoid Whirling Slash.

Gal’darah starts out in human form and uses the Stampede, Impale and Whirling Slash abilities while in this form. When he casts Whirling Slash all melee (and anyone close to him) should move away from him to avoid the damage it causes. Gal’darah can be Disarmed and Dismantled which helps alot during Whirling Slash (usually resulting in a bunch of miss/parry/block on a tank). Anyone that is Impaled will need special attention from the healer to keep them alive.

Gal’darah switches to Rhino form at various times throughout the fight and uses the Stampede, Enrage and Puncture abilities. Hunters can use Tranquilizing Shot to dispell his Enrage effect.

Heroic

Abilities:

Stampede - (see above)
Impale - (see above)
Whirling Slash - (see above)
Enrage - (see above)
Puncture - (see above)

Strategy:

The strategy for heroic isn’t any different than it is for normal mode. However Disarm and Dismantle become increasingly more important as well as the colapse/expand during the different phases.
